The Washington Nationals called up outfield prospect James Wood to make his major league debut on Monday.

Wood, 21, is ranked as the league’s No. 3 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline and has been tearing the cover off the ball this season at Triple-A Rochester.

He is batting .353 with a 1.058 OPS in 52 games for the Red Wings, racking up 10 home runs, 37 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.

Wood boasts a .302 career average with 51 homers, 212 RBIs and 58 RBIs in 283 games in the minors since 2021.

A second-round pick by the San Diego Padres in 2021, Wood was traded to the Nationals in the Juan Soto deal on Aug. 2, 2022.

The Nationals begin an eight-game homestand on Monday with the opener of a four-game series against the New York Mets.

The Nationals designated outfielder Eddie Rosario for assignment to make room on the roster.
