The Seattle Mariners placed shortstop J.P. Crawford on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a right oblique strain.
The move is retroactive to Wednesday, when Crawford was scratched before the game at Texas due to soreness.
Crawford, 29, is batting .198 through 22 games this season with two homers, nine RBIs and 13 runs.
He is a career .250 hitter with 258 RBIs in 690 games with the Philadelphia Phillies (2017-18) and Mariners.
Seattle selected the contract of infielder Leo Rivas from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding transaction.
Rivas, who was not in the starting lineup for Thursday’s game against the Rangers, has not made his MLB debut.
Rivas, 26, is batting .308 with two homers, 11 RBIs and five stolen bases in 18 games this season with Tacoma.
The Mariners moved right-hander Gregory Santos (lat strain) to the 60-day IL to make room for Rivas on the roster.
