The Baltimore Orioles put pitcher Kyle Bradish on the 15-day injured list Saturday, following the right-hander complaining of elbow issues during his Friday night outing against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies.
The team termed the injury a sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament, an injury he also was forced to deal with in the first month of this season, choosing rehab over Tommy John surgery.
Bradish’s previous injury developed over spring training and delayed his season debut until May 2.
The Orioles have lost two other pitchers, John Means and Tyler Wells, to season-ending UCL injuries this season.
Bradish started the 5-3, 11-inning loss Friday and worked five innings, surrendering two runs and three hits while striking out four. His outing went 74 pitches.
Bradish, 27, is 2-0 with a 2.75 ERA this season, his third with Baltimore. He has a 3.56 ERA over 61 career starts with an 18-14 record.
Left-hand pitcher Nick Vespi was called up from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move.
Vespi, 28, is 6-0 with a 3.98 ERA in 36 Baltimore appearances over three seasons.
