Five Prop Bets for the August 26th MLB Slate

Kansas City Royals at Cleveland Guardians

Alex Marsh (7-7) vs. Logan Allen (8-4)

Steven Kwan Over 1.5 Total Bases

This is a very important series against a division opponent that is within reach of first place in the Kansas City Royals. The Royals are fresh off of a bad series loss against the Phillies, and are going to be hungry for some wins to cover some ground in the standings. They’ll have a tough time with the Guardians lineup, with hitters like Jose Ramirez, Josh Naylor, David Fry, and especially Steven Kwan. Against Alex Marsh, Kwan has three hits in six at bats, for a 1.571 OPS. With multiple extra base hits against Marsh, the 2024 All Star should be able to have a solid night at the plate.

Houston Astros at Philadelphia Phillies

Ronel Blanco (9-6) vs. Zack Wheeler (12-6)

Ronel Blanco Over 16.5 Pitching Outs

Blanco has been a workhorse and a common go-to for prop bets all season with how consistent he’s been out of the Houston rotation. He’s been in an annoying stretch where he’s had to face Tampa Bay and Boston twice in the last four starts, not going more than five innings in any of those four starts. A change of pace against a National League opponent should suit him well, and there’s not a large sample size of Blanco pitching against Philadelphia’s hitters, which should also be an advantage.

New York Yankees at Washington Nationals

Nestor Cortes (7-10) vs. Mitchell Parker (7-7)

Dylan Crews Over 0.5 Hits

Today’s a very exciting day for Nationals fans as their top prospect and baseball’s number three overall prospect per MLB Pipeline debuts. Dylan Crews after just one season in the minor league system will join former Nationals top prospect James Wood in the outfield to usher in a new generation of Nationals baseball. A right handed hitter in Crews should match up well against Nestor Cortes. With a 5.45 ERA on the road, Nestor is due to give up some hits, and against Crews in his debut is undoubtedly a fun pick to take. While Cortes has looked great in his last two starts going seven innings in each, Crews will be a very tough hitter to navigate in his first MLB start.

Atlanta Braves at Minnesota Twins

Max Fried (7-7) vs. Bailey Ober (12-5)

Whit Merrifield Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI

One player with a lot of experience against American League Central pitching is Whit Merrifield. The former Kansas City Royal has a solid history against Bailey Ober in 10 at bats. Merrifield has four hits in those 10 at bats, with a double and a triple. He’s been seeing the ball well lately with seven hits the last seven days, walking more than he’s struck out as well. The hits, runs, and RBI line is a good pick for a player who’s best years were against AL Central pitching.

San Diego Padres at St. Louis Cardinals

Randy Vazquez (3-6) vs. Kyle Gibson (7-5)

Luis Arraez Over 1.5 Total Bases

The Padres are losing ground in the National League West as the Diamondbacks continue to surge, and the Dodgers continue to play incredible baseball. This is a huge series for them to get back in the win column, and Luis Arraez has a particularly good stat sheet against Kyle Gibson. In seven at bats he has five hits for a .714 batting average and a 1.714 OPS. After two hitless games Arraez should look to get back on track against a pitcher he sees very well.
