Five Picks For The July 26th MLB Slate

New York Yankees at Boston Red Sox

Nestor Cortes (4-9) vs. Brayan Bello (10-5)

Total Runs Scored: Over 9.5 & Jarren Duran Over 1.5 Total Bases

Two picks for this historic rivalry tonight. The pitching matchup tonight screams a high scoring game, and with how good Jarren Duran has been, taking his total bases also seems like a good play. Nestor Cortes on the road this season has been significantly worse, recording a 6.04 ERA with an 0-5 record. At home this season Brayan Bello has recorded a 6.20 ERA, and has given up no less than three runs in his last three starts at home.

Jarren Duran has been on fire since the All Star break, where he took home the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player Award in the midsummer classic. He’s currently on an eight game hit streak, and it doesn’t look to be slowing down. Coming off a three hit performance against Colorado on Wednesday, Duran looks to stay hot at home.

Cleveland Guardians at Philadelphia Phillies

Ben Lively (8-6) vs. Christopher Sanchez (7-5)

Trea Turner Over 1.5 Total Bases

One of the most intriguing series all season starts with the Guardians turning to a pitcher who has struggled on the road, but has especially struggled against Trea Turner. In four at bats against the Philly shortstop, Turner has a pair of extra base hits, one a home run and another a triple. Turner’s been great at the plate this week, hitting two home runs, and tallying five hits in the last four games. With the two extra base hits being over that 1.5 line, it seems like a solid play.

Atlanta Braves at New York Mets

Charlie Morton (5-5) vs. Kodai Senga (0-0)

Total Runs Scored Over 7.5

After a low scoring thriller last night, tonight’s game could be completely different. With it being Senga’s 2024 season debut coming off of injury, he may not have the longest leash, and with how hot the Mets lineup has been, they can get to an aging Charlie Morton. Morton’s ERA on the road this season is currently at 4.47. Regardless of score however, this is a very entertaining series and divisional rivalry worth watching.

Seattle Mariners at Chicago White Sox

George Kirby (7-7) vs. Drew Thorpe (3-1)

Drew Thorpe Over 17.5 Total Outs

Since getting time in the majors, Drew Thorpe has been great for the White Sox. Thorpe right now has a 3.00 ERA at home, and has gone at least 6.0 innings pitched in his last five starts. Thorpe’s first start this season was against the Mariners where he went a solid 5.0 innings pitched, and with more starts and innings under his belt, should be better on the hill this time around. Against a struggling Seattle team that has been flat on offense lately and has suffered injuries, Thorpe should be able to settle in at home today.
