Early Look at the 2025 MLB Rookie of the Year Odds

Action Sports Network has provided Futures odds for the 2025 MLB Rookie of the Year Award. While the season is slowly approaching, let’s take an early look at the odds and who some of the best picks are for the American and National League winners. All odds used are based on consensus odds.

American League Favorite: Jasson Dominguez (OF) – New York Yankees +500

This makes sense as right now Dominguez is the most likely player on this list to play everyday. His role with the Yankees will be bigger in 2025, and he’s coming off of a great season in the minors in 2024. The switch hitter hit .314/.376/.504 with 11 home runs in 58 games. As far as safe picks go, Dominguez is your safest.

Four AL Players to Pick (Three Hitters + One Pitcher)

Kristian Campbell (INF/OF) – Boston Red Sox +747 Odds

The 2024 Minor League Player of the Year is a great pick for the award especially if he’s able to break the big league club out of Spring Training. There’s a great chance of this happening given his defensive versatility and his recent offensive success. In 115 games in 2024, Campbell slashed .330/.439/.558 across three levels. He reached all the way up to AAA Worcester, and is banging on the door to Fenway.

Jacob Wilson (SS) – Athletics +824 Odds

Wilson surged through the farm system, quickly making his debut for the Athletics this past summer. Wilson should see consistent playing time with the Athletics this season, and playing out of a minor league park should hopefully only benefit him. As a player who recorded a .433 batting average in 53 minor league games in 2024, he should be a solid pick with great value to win the award.

Christian Moore (2B) – Los Angeles Angels +1956 Odds

The Angels notoriously fast track prospects to the bigs and their 2024 first round selection out of Tennessee should be no different. Moore had an explosive start to his professional career, making his name known in 25 games hitting .347/.400/.584 with six home runs. Moore reached all the way up to AA Rocket City and while the infield seems slightly clogged, Moore may be too ready to keep down.

Jackson Jobe (RHP) – Detroit Tigers +964 Odds

The Tigers have an elite prospect in Jackson Jobe who’s seen time in the majors already to end the 2024 season. Jobe pitched to a 2.36 ERA in 21 starts in the minors in 2024, and is set to break into the Opening Day rotation. Jobe has incredible stuff with some elite velocity to pair. While a pitcher is usually a longshot, there is definitely solid value here with Jackson Jobe.

National League Favorite: Dylan Crews (CF) – Washington Nationals +424 Odds

The #2 overall pick in 2023, Crews made his big league debut in 2024 and is set to start the season in center for Washington. Crews didn’t have the greatest start in the world to his big league career, hitting slightly below league average with an 82 OPS+. However in just 31 games there is no reason to think Crews can’t come into 2025 with the best chance to win NL Rookie of the Year. Crews historically gets on base at an elite level and should be a big contributor to this lineup this season once fully settled into big league play.

Four NL Players to Pick (Two Hitters + Two Pitchers)

Matt Shaw (INF) – Chicago Cubs +445 Odds

Another player to potentially break the big league club out of Spring Training is Cubs top prospect Matt Shaw. Shaw’s impressed since being drafted in 2023, hitting for a .906 OPS in 159 minor league games. More impressive, he’s managed to record 29 home runs and 46 stolen bases in that stretch as well. Shaw has some of the best upside of any prospect currently, and if he can break the big league club this is a great pick.

Deyvison De Los Santos (3B/1B) – Miami Marlins +5732 Odds

While there aren’t many reasons to watch this Miami Marlins team, Deyvison De Los Santos can provide a sneaky under the radar pick for Rookie of the Year. With a depleted Marlins lineup, he should almost certainly break the big league roster out of Spring Training. In the minor leagues last season, De Los Santos hit 40 home runs, also recording a .914 OPS in 137 games. If sprinkling a longshot bat, this is certainly an interesting one to look into.

Bubba Chandler (RHP) – Pittsburgh Pirates +948 Odds

The first NL arm we’ll look at here is Pirates top prospect Bubba Chandler. The right hander tossed to a 3.08 ERA across 23 starts, getting up to AAA Indianapolis. Chandler held hitters to a .183 average in 2024 as well. If he can break the big league rotation early enough, and Crews and Shaw don’t have hot starts, Chandler can surge his way into the discussion.

Rhett Lowder (RHP) – Cincinnati Reds +2500 Odds

A pitcher who will be in the starting rotation all season long is Wake Forest alum Rhett Lowder. Lowder pitched in six starts in 2024, recording 30.2 innings and a 1.17 ERA during that stretch. At +2500 odds, this seems like a great pick. There’s amazing value after his incredible start with the Reds and while that type of production may not be sustainable, it’s not needed to win Rookie of the Year in a very open race.
