The Los Angeles Dodgers traded for some pitching depth Friday, acquiring left-handed minor leaguer Anthony Banda from the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for cash considerations.
Banda, 30, has struck out 25 batters in 17 innings for Triple-A Columbus this season, posting a 2.12 ERA in 12 games.
Banda reached the majors with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2017. He made four of his six career starts that season, but he needed Tommy John surgery in 2018.
Banda has a career 7-6 record with a 5.69 ERA, striking out 109 hitters in 118 2/3 innings with Arizona, Tampa Bay (2018-20), the New York Mets (2021), Pittsburgh (2021-2022), Toronto (2022), the New York Yankees (2022) and Washington (2023).
