Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Brandon Pfaadt left in the fifth inning Saturday night at San Diego after getting hit in the foot with a line drive.
Pfaadt exited with Arizona trying to protect a 2-1 lead after a line drive from Padres first baseman Luis Arraez hit him on the left foot. The play left runners on first and third with one out, but Kevin Ginkel came on to get two strikeouts and end the inning.
In his second major league season, Pfaadt began the night 3-6 with a 4.28 ERA in 17 starts. He had a career ERA of 4.97 in 36 games, all but one as a starter.
In five postseason starts as the Diamondbacks made it from a wild-card berth to the World Series, Pfaadt went 0-1 with a 3.27 ERA.
