Another week and another new installment of our MLB Power Rankings series. This week saw a lot of movement, but the top three remain the same with the Los Angeles Dodgers holding down the number one spot, and the New York Yankees holding strong at number two. The Phillies remained in the third spot after a strong series win at Kansas City this weekend.
The fourth spot is where it gets interesting. A series sweep over the Guardians and a series win over Oakland gave the Brewers our fourth spot in this week’s rankings. They now also hold the fourth best record in the league, and have a large lead over the NL Central.
The Orioles late season struggle to get the division lead back has landed them the fifth spot in this week’s rankings. They lost a series against the Mets, and have a tough series against the Dodgers coming up. Huge series win for the O’s against the Astros this past weekend however.
The Diamondbacks continue to play phenomenal baseball and for that, rise a spot in the rankings to number six this week.
The Guardians are in danger of losing their first place spot in the AL Central, with a possible sweep from Kansas City looming over their heads. They fell from four in our rankings last week to seven after a tough week.
The Royals are threatening to take first place away from the Guardians in that AL Central division. While they’ve been playing great baseball, losing a crucial series to Philadelphia at home this past weekend has kept them at the eight spot in this week’s power rankings.
San Diego had a solid week of their own, but the teams above have arguably been playing better. They are certainly interchangeable with many teams outside of the top five, but a series loss against the Mets this past week moves them down to nine.
The Twins stay at the ten spot this week, but if they cover ground in the AL Central are certainly able to move up.
