At the beginning of this month of October we did a test to see how well the computer ran this season’s MLB Playoffs. Well to come to a surprise the computer was completely wrong and the predictions are way off. We will share with you what was right and what was wrong with the MLB playoffs.
MLB Playoffs Computer Simulation Way Off
To start off the computer had the wildcard games wrong three out of the four of them. The only one the computer had right was the Phillies and Marlins game every game that was Rays and Rangers incorrect Blue Jays and Twins incorrect Diamondbacks and Brewers incorrect. In real life the Twins beat the Blue Jays in two games. The Rangers on the other hand beat the Rays in two games as well. The Brewers didn’t win against the Diamondbacks. The computer only got one simulation correct out of all these. There were a total of 14 MLB Playoffs games.
When looking at the MLB Playoffs divisional series games the computer has got the winner correct of the Astros matchup but the number of games that was played is wrong and the team they played was wrong. The Astros played the Twins and the Astros played one less game than what the computer says. They also have the Orioles and Rays series wrong as well.
The matchup that should happen was Rangers vs. Orioles and it was a sweep for the Rangers. The computer has the Dodgers playing the Brewers. They got it right with the wildcard team beating the Dodgers but it was the wrong team that beat the Dodgers. The computer is only correct once everything else here is wrong.
Now we are close to the real life World Series we can now say the computer is wrong and even if we simulate hundreds of times the computer will possibly still have it wrong. I feel what we learn is not to trust the computer with making predictions for the MLB Playoffs unless we want to make it look realistic and let it happen.
Do you feel the computer was wrong or do you have a similar prediction? If you had the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Texas Rangers in the World Series you might be the lucky winner in the lottery if you had these winners. The computer just thinks it is all going to be based on the best teams and that it was something that it feels.
If you ran the simulation would you have the same outcome or would it be different. I feel I am shocked with this happening with the computer being wrong. I feel like it was going to happen. Now we know we don’t trust computers to run the postseason because they pick the higher seed.
Now we have to see if there are five games or there will be more games. In reality the computer had a one 10 average and only .100 correct. This is the worst prediction on the computer and maybe it is worse than picking teams in March Madness Brackets busting. Next year we will test this theory again and see how they handle the next postseason.
Just know this is a simulation not a real life thing that happens with the postseason computer. I honestly didn’t have the Diamondbacks and Rangers in the World Series. This postseason has been crazy with upsets and crazy games. This is overall what the computer thinks and note we don’t want to damage fan bases in this writing.
We just did a test on this to see how well a computer does a prediction of the MLB Playoffs and what has happened overtime. Hope you enjoyed this reading and looked at the prediction of the computer and now we will watch to see how the real life World Series happens.
