After diverting away from Horseshoe Indy because of their races being taken off the turf, we revert back there after a side trip north of the border. Today we will look at the seventh race on their card today. This race is the Don Dunham Overnight Handicap, going five and a half furlongs on the main track.
Horseshoe Indianapolis Race 7 – Don Dunham Overnight Handicap
Favored in this field of Indiana bred horses is the 2 Latigo (9/5 morning line). He won in his first race in nine months here at Horseshoe Indianapolis. This gelding made a move on the turn and won by open lengths and should be dangerous in his second race after that layoff.
The 3 Molly’s Town (3/1 ML) had a chance to win turning for home but could not hold off the impressive move by today’s favorite. He stalked last time out but he can run on the lead if he needs to as well.
The 7 Win Me Over (6/1 ML) did not show much on an inside trip in this common race that the top two were in last out. He won two races this summer, including a handicap in June, but those were both on sloppy tracks. It appears we will have a dry track today though.
On the outside is the 10 Chipofftheoldblock (8/1 ML). He appears to have a nice stalking trip on the outside here. He closed willingly at Colonial Downs last out and returns to a track where he is 8 for 25 lifetime.
Joe’s Pick
There is a distinct possibility that Latigo could bounce off of his return three weeks ago at Horseshoe Indianapolis. He has won 8 of 14 here at Indy, and even when he wins, he is right there at the end. But there have been the clunker now and then like you would expect from a blue collar horse like this.
Win Me Over has a chance today to bounce back to his July win in the Nobody Listens. Chipofftheoldblock returns home, but I think that Molly’s Town has the opportunity to reverse the tables on the favorite here today.
Let’s call this race 3-10-2-7 and my play is $20 to win on the 3. Best of luck everyone!
