We head to my area of the country to Delaware Park for today’s QPW. We are looking at the sixth race today on their eight-race card. This is the Obeah Stakes for fillies and mares going a mile and a sixteenth on the main track
Delaware Park Race 6 – Obeah Stakes
Favored in today’s race is the 9 Saddle Up Jessie (5/2 morning line) who has faced much tougher fields. She tried to stalk the pace last time and dueled to deep stretch until he was passed in the Caesar’s Wish at Laurel Park.
She finished second two races back at Delaware Park in the Grade 2 Delaware Handicap. She was a few lengths back and made a move to finish second in that race. I think that running that way may be best for her today.
The 7 Venti Valentine (6/1 ML) spent the summer at Saratoga and comes into this race off of a failed trip to the turf course last time out. She did win three back in the mud at Saratoga in the Critical Eye Stakes. She heads back to the dirt today where she will be more comfortable.
Frosty O Toole (#6, 9/2 ML) comes into this race after getting bumped around in the Molly Pitcher at Monmouth Park. She has faced tougher recently and should be ready to fire after an almost two-month break.
The 3 Magical Lute (12/1 ML) has a good race bad race pattern over her last six races. She did nothing in the Groupie Doll at Ellis Park last month, but the race before that, she won the Iowa Distaff at Prairie Meadows. She will be a few lengths but not too far off the pace today if she wants to continue this pattern today.

Things should set up nicely for the closers. The 11 Hot Fudge Warrior (12/1 ML) is going a mile or longer for the first time in today’s test. She will gun for the lead and hope she can go all the way around. Venti Valentine and Saddle Up Jessie will have the first chance to pass this longshot. But Magical Lute will show the Iowa Distaff form here and win at hopefully a very nice price.
