Wednesday 6/12 – Delaware Park Race 7
We head down I-95 to Delaware Park for today’s race as we will look at three-year-old fillies going about a mile and a sixteenth on the turf here. The weather should be fine as the fillies will go postward with a post time of approximately 3:30 pm Eastern time.
You will see that there are 11 horses entered for the race, but the outside horse Lagonisi will need the race to be taken off the turf to run. She would have a major advantage for that to happen, but she is a main track only entrant.
Favored in today’s race is the 6 Belle of Rights (5/2 morning line). She got a race over the Delaware Park turf in her return to racing a few weeks ago and was never that far behind the leaders and just missed. She could be very tough here today as a few of these fillies have never been on the turf.
The 5 Source (9/2 ML) runs for the first time in Noth America after winning her debut in France last November. She should be ready to go after training up to this race on the synthetic at Fair Hill. Her sire Kingman has insane numbers with three-year-olds and his offspring going long on the turf as is most of the training numbers for H Graham Motion. The tough part is that I could not find video of her debut, but with the long layoff, it is possible she grew up some and may run differently than what some people night have seen last year.
The 3 Doesn’thurttoflirt (8/1 ML) is second race off the layoff as well and ran in the same race that the morning line favorite ran about three weeks ago. She checked at the 3/8 pole due to traffic and dropped back but seemed to run with a lot of energy despite the trouble going into the final turn. I wouldn’t rule this horse out today.
The 10 Surpenant Cocca (6/1 ML) had momentum stopped near the final turn as another horse had to check because of traffic at Aqueduct last month. She came wide and finished well despite the trouble. The “other” Motion-trained horse could be up there with a cleaner trip and a nice closing kick.
I’m looking at the two horses that had the traffic troubles last time and I’m going to take a chance on the 3 Doesn’thurttoflirt. Her trouble line when watching the video might have said “no threat” but she still closed well with the trouble she had. A clean trip means an appointment to get her picture taken in the winner’s circle. I’ll call this 3-10-6-5 and my play is $20 to win on the 3. Good luck everyone!
