Wednesday 3/6/24 – Tampa Bay Race 6
We got to handicap a race 6 today, but it is not from Parx. Today, since it is Wednesday, we head down to Tampa Bay Downs for their sixth today. Eight three year olds will go seven furlongs on the main track in this $20,000 claiming race. Post time is scheduled for 2:55 pm Eastern.
The morning line favorite is the 2 Dr Bayter (2/1 morning line), and yes, I’m glad I am not the track announcer for this race. Yes, I could see a slip of the tongue happening by yours truly that would get me fired! This gelding comes in off of a troubled trip at Gulfstream two weeks ago and will be blinkers off for this race. A perfect trip for him will be closer to the pace with a clean start.
The 8 Bahamian Native (5/2 ML) tired last time out against tougher in his first time facing winners. He’s going an extra furlong here, but he may not get the rail trip that he had last time out.
The 4 Code Enforcer (10/1 ML) broke his maiden going this dance right before the New Year. We have the same situation with Code Enforcer today as when he broke his maiden. He was going turf to dirt and shortening up to 7 furlongs. He looks like he could be a sprint horse on the dirt.
The 7 Sa Sa Sa (6/1 ML) broke his maiden last time out going five and a half furlongs. He could be on the outside of any front runners looking to pounce turning for home.
In the end, I think that Bahamian Native will outfinish Dr Bayter to the finish. I am going to call this 8-2-4-7 and my play is $20 to win on the 8. Good luck everyone and catch you tomorrow with another Quills Picks Winners.
