Quills Picks Winners – Wednesday 12/4 – Tampa Bay Downs Race 8

We head to south to the Gulf Coast of Florida for today’s race as we will look at the featured race at Tampa Bay Downs. Today’s race is the eighth of nine on the card. We have a field of nine fillies and mares entered to go seven furlongs in this optional claiming event.

Tampa Bay Downs Race 8 – Optional Claiming

Favored in this race is the 1 Adios Babe (3/1 morning line). She comes in from Gulfstream Park looking to say adios to this field just like she did last time out defeating optional claimers on the other coast of Florida. She will be a few lengths off the lead here looking to take over in the stretch here today like she did the last two times out.

The 7 Sweet Laura (9/2 ML) comes in from Illinois after winning at FanDuel Racing. She has run from closer to the pace and further off also tallying wins in her four-race win streak at Prairie Meadows as well. She shortens up to seven furlongs here, which will not be an issue for this mare who is 10 for 30 lifetime.

The 4 Brookmesa (6/1 ML) showed little at Laurel back in September and then went to the sidelines. She returns today to winter at Tampa Bay Downs. She will be stalking the pace here if he returns to her form of her two wins at Delaware Park and Monmouth Park.

The 5 Yellow Feathers (7/2 ML) appears to be the filly that will be on the lead here. She has been on the lead or close to it in her four races before she didn’t show much in the Weather Vane at Laurel Park in September. She also has a front running win here at Tampa Bay Downs last December as well.

Joe’s Pick

I could just take the favorite here, but I’m concerned about the favorite drawing the rail here. There’s always a possibility that she won’t get off the rail, but she might also get the rail trip and a big opening along the rail as well.

Yellow Feathers interests me because she could be lone speed here, But I am going to go to knows how to win, no matter what track she runs at. Sweet Laura has won 5 of 6 races ts year and 8 of her last 15. The light turned on with here in those last 15 races, and that’s an intangible I like to look for in picking a horse.

I’ll take Sweet Laura to win here, and I’ll call this race 7-1-5-4 and my play is $20 to win on the 7. Best of luck everyone and I’ll see you in the winner’s circle!
