Wednesday 12/20/23 – Tampa Bay Downs Race 8
Let’s head down to Florida for the next few days. Well, that gives you a clue that the Thursday, Friday and Saturday races will be from either Gulfstream Park or Tampa Bay Downs. Today, we will stay in the western part of Florida and take in the eighth race at Tampa Bay Downs, and this will be a great one for everyone to handicap as this is a race for maiden two-year-olds going six-and-one-half furlongs on the main track. To make things even more interesting, we have an overflow field of 14, with 12 fillies going into the gate.
The 12 Fleur Delacour (6/1 morning line) had a nice move on the turn in a 6 furlong race last out. The winner drew off and the 8 Fluffy (5/1 ML) closed in the stretch to pass the 12 to finish third. Fluffy already made seven races this year, while Fleur Delacour is making his third.
The 11 Managing Mischief (5/2 ML favorite) faced much tougher at Saratoga. She caught a flier and was quickly caught on the backstretch. The experience of that race and the break will help her.
The 10 Princess Gladys (8/1 ML) is a first-time starter that has had some nice workouts leading up to this race. Her sire Maximus Mischief has his offspring win 21% of the time in their debut race. Something to ponder today.
U Lite Up My Life (6/1 ML) could get some bettors hope as she goes back to a sprint after going two turns last time out at Tampa.
I am going to go with the outside horses here in this race. I think Fleur Delacour will make a move just like she did last time out but will not have a horse draw off and win by a ton here. Managing Mischief is going to be on the lead. U Lite Up My Life will be there as well, and Fluffy will be closing. But I will go with the wild card in this race, Princess Gladys to win on debut here in the eighth race at Tampa Bay Downs. I will call it 10-8-12-11 in the Wednesday feature.
My play is $10 to win on the 10 Princess Gladys. Good luck everyone!
