We close a successful month of April, at least with win wagers, as we look at the Daily Racing Form’s favorite race on Mondays and Tuesdays, the sixth race at Parx. Today’s edition is a $5000 claiming race for fillies and mares going five and a half furlongs on the main track. The ten fillies and mares head to the gate at approximately 2:59 pm Eastern time.
Favored in this race is the 5 Phancy Philly (5/2 morning line) who drops to the bottom claiming level here after being claimed last time out at Parx. She just missed on finishing third on the slop in a race where she was very wide on the turn. The drop and not being as wide will help her today. Or would the fact that horses have been running from the outside lately at Parx help her if she has a similar run?
The 8 Bahama Pearl (5/1 ML) had a nice run about six weeks ago at Parx where she was very wide on the turn and had to check when bumped in a chain reaction bumping incident. A cleaner trip will be beneficial for her to get her picture taken today.
The 4 Starship Rogue (10/1 ML) lost all chances at the start three weeks ago at Parx when she was bumped at the start. But she still made a nice move to finish fifth despite the trouble at the start.
The 7 Collin’s Grey Lady (4/1 ML) will appreciate the fast track today. She went for the lead last time out, but she could be not far from the pace here.
Sometimes you go with the horse that had the trouble last time out. That’s the case with Bahama Pearl. Let’s see if I can get my 12thwinning selection to finish the month. I’ll call this 8-5-4-7 and my play is $20 to win on the 8. Good luck everyone.

- We had two winners from yesterday’s five races that we had when we featured the mandatory payout at Parx. Angelic Storm ($5.80) won the 6th race and Gray Lightning ($2.60) destroyed an overmatched field of five in the ninth. Unfortunately, those were the only two winners I had in the pick 5.
- With the two wins on Monday, my win selections are 11 for 38 this month (28.94%). A win today will close the month out with a win percentage on win wagers at over 30%. But somehow, I will still not make a profit this month.
Reminder that this Saturday’s “Also Eligible” will be live from 8 to 10 am on The Sports Radio 102.9 The Game app, The Bleacher Brothers YouTube, X and Twitch accounts as well as on BroadStSouth.com and BleacherBrothers.com. It will be Kentucky Derby Day and we will look at the Run for the Roses as well as some additional races on the Churchill card.
