Tuesday 4/23 – Parx Race 6
After a diversion to the featured race of the day which featured the Bleacher Brothers’ adopted horse Uncle Ernie, we head back to the same ol’, same ol’, we will look at race six at Parx on this Tuesday. We have seven maiden claimers going one mile today with a post time of approximately 2:58 pm Eastern time.
Favored is the 1 Action Hero (2/1 morning line) and he comes into this race after finishing second three weeks ago going seven furlongs. He hasn’t shown much going two turns at Parx, but he did run well in his debut going longer at Churchill Downs.
The 3 King Mufasa (4/1 ML) goes two turns for the first time after two sprints to start off his racing career. He ran okay in his race in February but couldn’t catch up to the top two who pulled away down the stretch. Two horses in King Mufasa’s race won their next time out if you follow that handicapping angle.
The 5 Bottomless Refill (6/1 ML) didn’t show much in his debut at Laurel in February, but the winning horse did run a monster race that earned him a couple of unsuccessful stakes races at Laurel. Bottomless Refill has been working well for this race and having that first race under his belt will help him.
The 6 Sheer Dominance (7/2 ML) closed well to finish third in the same race that Action Hero ran. He needs a better start to this race because he’s full of run, but it is only getting him third.
I think Action Hero is the horse to beat here and should be able to handle this group. But based on what I saw watching Parx today, he will need to get off the rail if he has a chance. But I think he will. I’ll call this 1-6-5-3 and my play is $20 to win on the 1. Good luck everyone!

Our adopted horse Uncle Ernie ran third in the Page McKenney Handicap at Parx on Monday. He was in the two or three path down the backstretch but could not get the lead like he did last time out. He was briefly boxed in from going to the outside, which lead him to a dead rail run and a good third place finish. The 6 Far Mo Power (7.5 to 1 odds) flew home on the outside, like most of the horses did on Monday, to take home the winner’s share of the $100,000 purse.
