After yesterday’s win, we stay at Parx for another day as we will once again look at the eighth race on their card. We have a field of 13 horses with a maximum of 12 running in this race going six and a half furlongs.
Parx Race 8 – Starter Allowance
Favored in today’s featured race is the 5 Minxzhippsdontleye (7/2 morning line). He finished well last time out in a claiming race after stalking the pace. He has done that in three of his last four races and will look to do that again here today.
The 11 Catch the Smoke (9/2 ML) returns after a nine-month break. He finished second in April but was disqualified for interference on the turn. After a few workouts on Belmont’s training track, he returns today at Parx in this starter allowance.
The 4 Ahsad (6/1 ML) stalked the last at the end of November here at Parx and had the lead but could not hold on. He’s back today in his 91st career race looking to put back to back god races together.
The 2 Majestic Tiger (6/1 ML) comes in from Aqueduct where we showed little against allowance foes. This gelding comes south to Parx and find a softer field though the field size will be much larger. He did finish third two races back at Delaware Park despite being wide. I doubt he will be wide like he was in that race in October.
Joe’s Pick
In a race like this where there are a ton of underachieving horses, I look for consistency. The most consistent horse right now is Minxzhippsdontleye who has just missed in three of his last four races. None of the other horses in this field can say that.
Let’s take Minxzhippsdontleye to win here and probably eat some chalk. I’ll call this 5-11-2-4 and my play is $20 to win on the 5. Best of luck everyone and I’ll see you in the winner’s circle!
