After a trip to Delaware, we head up to the Big Apple for today’s QPW. Today’s race is a New York-bred fillies and mares race going six furlongs on the main track. Post time for this field of nine females is for approximately 4:44 pm Eastern time
Belmont at the Big A Race 8
The 7 Better Humor Me (3/1 ML) is favored in this race after willingly closing last time out at Saratoga and just missing in her last attempt against similar. She broke her maiden here at Aqueduct last fall and ran well in her two subsequent races. She looks like she could be near the front but will be there at the end.
A pure speed horse is right next to her in the 8 Mybronxbaby (5/1 ML). She had a failed experiment running on the grass at Saratoga last month and returns to the dirt today. There is speed to the inside of her which may make things difficult for her.
Potentially joining her on the front end are the 5 A Maize Zing Dotie (7/2 ML) and the 6 Flight Control (9/2 ML). The former has consistently gone for the lead, even with the bad stumble she had at the start of last month’s race at Saratoga.
The latter filly is a three-year-old filly who returns to the races for the first time in eight months. She has been in the work tabs for the last couple of months after running her first two races here at Aqueduct over the winter. I wouldn’t even be surprised if she grew up some during her make and learns to rate today.
Carol T (#9, 10/1 ML) has a good race bad race pattern, and her last race at Saratoga last month was not a good one. She tired badly last time out, but she has a win in May here at Aqueduct as well as a third in July. Things could set up nicely for her if there is a speed duel up front.
Joe’s Pick
This looks like this is a race that Better Humor Me should win. She will be stalking the pace here and showing her closing kick. She will have speed to the inside that she can target when they turn for home. Look for her to win this today. I’ll call this race 7-9-8-6 and my play is $20 to win on the 7. Best of luck everyone!
