Quills Picks Winners – Thursday 9/12 – Woodbine Race 7

We head north of the border for today’s QPW as we had to Woodbine as they start off their racing week. We will take a look at the seventh race on the card which is an allowance race for fillies and mares going seven and a half furlongs on the inner turf course. Post time is set for 7:44 pm Eastern time.

Woodbine Race 7

The 6 Silent Sky (5/2 morning line) is favored in today’s featured race. She is a consistent sort who is not far from the lead and makes a move at the end. She couldn’t get to the winner last time out at Woodbine. She has run well on both the main and inner turf courses here and should enjoy the distance here today.

Fortyfiveseventy (#7, 6/1 ML) was gaining steadily in the stretch last time out and just missed getting her nose down for second over Silent Sky. She has improved as she has raced this year and could be looking at a race where she can win this at a nice price.

Woodbine

The 8 Cozy Curlin Kitten (7/2 ML) won at this distance in an optional claimer impressively and goes from an optional claiming non-winners of two to an open optional claimer though she will be in for the 40k tag today. She does have grass breeding on the dam’s side (the mother’s side) which is showing her ability to run on the green.

Moving from the main E.P. Taylor turf course to the inner is the 3 Blameless Ghost (8/1 ML). She won three back at Woodbine in June from the back of the pack and was closer to the pace in July. She did not have the same kick last time out but will also have the opportunity to go two turns for the first time today.

Joe’s pick

This is an interesting race here that is worthy of the QPW. I like the progression of the 7 Fortyfiveseventy and I think her progression continues today in a contentious race. Let’s call this 7-8-6-3 and my play is $20 to win on the 7. Best of luck everyone!
