Thursday 12/7/2023 – Aqueduct Race 8

After a day on the Gulf Coast area of Florida, we head back to New York for Thursday’s feature race at Aqueduct. Today’s race is an optional claiming race going 7 furlongs on the dirt which should be fast. If you don’t have an online wagering account with TwinSpires, TVG, et al., the NYRA races are available on YouTube for Aqueduct at https://www.youtube.com/@thenyra.

The morning line favorite is the 8 Shadow Dragon (5/2 ML odds) finished second in his last two starts at Aqueduct going a mile. I’ll put a line through that last effort since that was a race that was taken off of the turf. There’s more horse flesh running in this race with 11 horses entered, but this horse should be there in the end.

But I am going to try to beat the morning line favorite here with the 4 Simply (8/1 ML). This gelding ran well before heading to the sidelines after his March 10 effect at Aqueduct. Simply goes to the Mark Hennig barn who may be 1 for 26 so far at this Aqueduct meet but   does win with horses 16% of the time with horses running for the first time under his care. As a person that doesn’t usually like analytics, it’s still something worth considering besides the fact that this horse should be flying at the end.

For third I’ll go with the 7 Mason Mania (8/1 ML). He tired last time out, but he’s another horse that should be there at the end. The 1 Zeebear stretches out to 7 furlongs after a pair of 6 furlong races that were taken off the turf. He’s won at 6 and 6.5 furlongs at Aqueduct. I won’t ignore this runner. In my selections here.

For this race, my selections are 4-8-7-1, and my play here is $10 to win on the 4.

Check back in on Friday as we will go to a track that we have not visited (virtually) as of yet.

Updates

We finally got a winner home! Tuesday at Parx, I finally broke my maiden with this section of Bleacher Brothers by selecting the 4 Lord Uhtred. He had no issues at the start of the race and basically went gate to wire for an easy win paying $8 to win for all the smart handicappers out there, including me.

As a result, I had to create a spreadsheet to track all my wagers. Since this segment of Bleacher Brothers started on November 11, I wagered $171 and won $80. So far I’m in a $91 hole, and a return on investment (if I calculated it correctly) of $0.47 for every wager I’ve placed. Hopefully in the next few days we can improve on all my stats.
