After our trip to Fair Grounds and Turfway Park, we stay in that area of the country and head to Oaklawn Park for Sunday’s QPW race. Today we have older fillies and mares sprinting five and a half furlongs in an allowance optional claiming race.
Oaklawn Park Race 8 – Allowance Optional Claiming $62,500
Favored in this field of nine fillies and mares is the 7 Gloriette (7/5 morning line). She comes into today’s race with a two race win streak. She dueled on the front end and took over to win fairly easily last time out and will look to go gate to wire again today.
The 3 Wise Miss (9/2 ML) will not be far behind the favorite here today. She likes to be forwardly placed and will look to take over in the stretch.
The 1 Punchy Girl (7/2 ML) finished second in a stakes race at Oaklawn last time out but could not keep up with the winner last time out. Look for her to be near the pace, but she has shown she can close from further back in the field.
The 4 Pharoah’s Heart (6/1 ML) had no rally last time out at Oaklawn last time out. This eight-year-old mare has shown that she can close in two of her last four races, but my concern is that she is running for the fourth time since February 1.

This looks like a race that Gloriette will go gate to wire or duel with some front running speed and take over like she did last time out. I really don’t see anyone that will be able to keep up with her today.
