Sunday 12/17/24 – King Glorious Stakes (Los Alamitos)
The final race of the day and the brief December thoroughbred meet at Los Alamitos is the King Glorious Stakes for California breds going one mile on the dirt. Eight horses are entered for the 12th and final race of the day with an estimated post time of 7:27 pm Eastern Time.
I’m going to go with the 3 Mici’s Express (4/1 morning line) here. He’s already running his tenth race since his April 30 debut, but this horse has been close in each California bred race he has run in as the distances go further and further. Gets to go a dirt distance for the first time. There’s speed in this race, so there’s a possibility this colt could be flying late to win.
Last Call London (#5, 5/2 ML) has been running in state bred stakes company the last three times out and tired last time out. Don’t be worried about that, as he ran well the previous two stakes races. He is definitely a contender here.
The 8 Stolen Treasure (4/1 ML) goes turf to dirt here and winning on the lead at Del Mar. Comes in and draws the outside in this race. If he doesn’t get over on these tight turns, he could be in trouble. I don’t think he does get all the way over and fades to third in the stretch.
Finally, the 4 Tom Seaver (3/1 ML), named after the Hall of Fame pitcher, won in his debut on the turf and goes to the dirt here. There’s a bit of mystery to me here as this horse looks to me more to be a turf horse, but why not take a chance here?
I’m going 3-5-8-4 in the finale at Los Al, and my play is $20 to win on the 3 Mici’s Express. Catch you on Monday from somewhere on the east coast!
