We continue here with the big day at Parx with races 4 to 6 on PA Derby Day. We continue with the stakes races here on this special Saturday card.
Race 4 – Whistle Pig Stakes
Favored in this stakes race is the 5 Beyondexpectations (2/1 ML). He was game in his debut but was caught in deep stretch. In a field of mostly all maidens, he has a great chance to graduate here today.
The 7 The Boy’s Warrior (5/2 ML) was cross entered with a race yesterday at Presque Downs. Once again, he was scratched for this race. If a speed duel develops, he will pick up the pieces like he did last month at PID.
Looking to improve off his debut last time out is the 4 Smile Maker (10/1 ML). He was very green in his debut and lugged inward. That experience should help him today if he has learned from it.
The 6 Roxton (3/1 ML) lost all chance at the start of the Sapling at Monmouth. He was steadied early in that race. He shortens up today and should be on the board here at the end.
I will take the horse who broke his maiden to win this race here today. I’ll call this 7-5-4-6 with a $20 play on the 7.
Race 5 – Miss Blue Tye Dye Stakes
Once again, we have a race for the juvenile fillies which is the mirror race for open juveniles. This is the Miss Blue Tye Dye which also goes six furlongs on the main track.
Favored is the 4 Anabam (6/5 ML) who drew off to impressively win her debut. She might have a carbon copy of that race here again today.
The 9 Vivi Rose (8/1 ML) moved up to finish third but was nowhere near Anabam. She rallied on the rail for third and will probably have a similar trip, but on the outside.
The 5 Loveumom (6/1 ML) did not show much in her debut but will add blinkers for this race today. She should have an improved performance today with the blinkers on today.
Also on the lead could be the 3 Angel of Hope (9/2 ML). She tired in her debut but could improve off of that effort.
I think this is Anabam’s race to lose and if she is loose on the lead like I think, this race will be over quickly. I’m calling this 6-9-5-3 and my play is $20 to win on the 6.
Race 6 – Plum Pretty Stakes
We have the first of our odds-on favorites running here in the Plum Pretty Stakes. We have eight fillies and mares going a mile and 70 yards on the main track.
This race is all about the 6 Morning Matcha. She destroyed an off-the-turf field in the Mrs. Penny last month at Parx. She has an insane class advantage over the rest of the field, having faces some of the top fillies and mares at Aqueduct and Delaware Park.
The 2 Foxy Junior (7/2 ML) was wide in the Princess of Sylmar at Presque Isle and closed well to finish fourth. If the favorite falters, this is your horse.
I have no play on this race because I think the favorite romps here, but keep an eye on the show pools, especially if you think Morning Matcha does not run her race today.
That’s it for part 2. Up next is races 7 to 9 at Parx. Good luck everyone!
