We have some good racing from across the country today, and I thought we would take a look at races from a few different tracks. Keep an eye out for the two races I will be looking at for Tampa Bay Downs, and a night race tonight from Turfway Park.
The focus of here will be the Gulfstream Park Sprint as older horses will go six furlongs on the main track today. We do have a field of seven entered for today’s race.
Gulfstream Park Race 7 – Gulfstream Park Sprint
Note that we do have two cross-entrants here for this race. The 5 Super Chow (8/1 ML) is entered at Tampa Bay Dows, but will race here. The 3 Okiro (20/1) also appears to be running here today instead of Sunday evening at Turfway Park.
Favored in this race is the 4 Nakatomi (6/5 morning line). He is back after a three-month break since he was last seen finishing sixth in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint. His best races are when he stalks the pace and will hope to do that here today. But the connections of this gelding are not sure if they will run here today or train up to a race in Dubai.
It looks like Super Chow could be dueling on the front end with the 6 Concrete Glory (4/1 ML) down the backstretch. Both are fast and want the lead. We may see things call apart for these two horses.
The 7 Comedy Town (3/1 ML) will be on the outside here and will be looking to pounce when they straighten up in the stretch. He just missed in the Sunshine Sprint Stakes here at Gulfstream. That was his first race in three months and should be dangerous here this afternoon.
The 2 Gordian Knot (6/1 ML) was last seen (allegedly) at Parx at Pennsyvania Derby Day. Why allegedly? I was there and it was pitch black. The video does not do just for night falling onto the track on Pennsylvania Derby Day. Gordian Knot is running for the first time under Todd Pletcher. I am not expecting a win here, but his gelding tries to make one move to win his races.
Joe’s Gulfstream Park Sprint Pick
This could set up nicely for Nakatomi if he races here today. As of the article that I cited above, we are unsure if he is running today. Even if he is, I’ll take a chance on the 7 Comedy Town here. I think he will be moving best in the stretch here today.
