Happy Monday everyone! It’s the home opener today at Citizens Bank Park, but our focus is on Parx today as we will look at the eighth race on the card. Today we have seven Pennsylvania bred maidens going six and a half furlongs.

Parx Race 8 – Maiden Special Weight (PA-breds)
Favored in today’s race is the 7 Never Till Now (2/1 morning line). He made his 2025 debut at Colonial Downs and had trouble in that race. He had nowhere to go as they turned from home and was shut off on the rail at the 1/8 pole. Look for him to be near the pace and try to make his move as they turn for home.
The 5 Showtime Matinee (5/2 ML) is a first-time starter with some nice works at Penn National leading to his debut today. The trainer gets 15% winners with first time starters. His brother has won twice in five tries.
The 1 Sir Rob Roy (8/1 ML) closed well last time out at Parx last month. He draws the rail today and will look to improve off of that last race.
The 2 Donnelly’s Hollow (4/1 ML) is a first time starter with some five furlong works in preparation for his debut today here at Parx. This might be a horse that will want longer with Bernardini as his sire. But this is a spot that he could win despite the pedigree looking like he will excel at longer races.

Joe’s Pick
I admit these races are tough when there are multiple first-time starters. I am going to take the favorite here. This will be his second time off of a layoff and had trouble in his last race a couple of weeks ago.
I’m calling this race 7-5-2-1 and my play is $20 to win on the 7. Best of luck everyone and I’ll see you in the winner’s circle!
