It’s Monday, which means we head home to Parx for today’s featured race. Today we have older fillies and mares going seven furlongs. A field of eight fillies and mares are entered in today’s race.

Also note that we will have wet conditions today. Rain is in the forecast and started in the overnight hours.
Parx Racing Race 8 – Starter Allowance/Optional Claiming
Favored in today’s race is the 1 Apollonia Vitelli (9/5 ML) She ran well three weeks ago here at Parx but could not get by the winner. She has only been on a wet track once and finished second. Her grandsire is Curlin who is a superior wet track sire in my opinion.
The 2 Leretha (5/2 ML) just missed in her first attempt against winner three weeks ago. She could not get by the winner and lost by a neck. Look for her to run a similar race here today.
The 5 Emily’s On Fire (6/1 ML) closer well here last time out here at Parx three weeks ago. She has a pattern of good race bad race over the last four races. Her best races have been when she stalks behind the leaders.
The 6 Love Like Crazy (10/1 ML) may have a built in excuse to her poor performance. The saddle slipped on the jockey and he lost the irons. Basically, he had little to no control of the horse from the final turn to the finish. Expect this filly to make a move on the turn here today as she shortened up from that mile race.

Joe’s Pick
I am going to take a chance with the filly who had the most trouble last time out. Would she have won if the jockey’s saddle slipped? Probably not, but I don’t think she finishes as far back as she did.
I’m calling this race 6-1-2-5 and my play is $20 to win on the 6. Best of luck everyone and I’ll see you in the winner’s circle!
