Monday 2/26/24 – Parx Race 6
Happy Monday everyone, and you know that if it is Monday, at least for this time of the year, we are taking a trip to my home track Parx Racing as we will look at the sixth race on the card. Today’s race is a $5000 level claimer (bottom at Parx) for older horses going six and a half furlongs.
The favorite in this race is Petulant Delight (#6. 7/2 ML) who drops back to this level after failing last month in a muddy seven-furlong race. She was reluctant to load so that may be part of the reason other than the fact that he went up in class for that race. He runs best on the lead or very close to it so expect him to be right up there.
The 1 R Goodtime Charlie (5/1 ML) draws the rail here and should be near the front as well. We should know if the rail is a good place to be or not by the sixth race but she could be a couple lengths back which might lead to him having to get out in the stretch.
The 2 Jw’s Third Muscle (6/1 ML) drops in class here after being wide last time out going six furlongs. He shouldn’t be as wide as last time out. He won the last time that he ran at this level last September here at Parx.
The 5 Strawberry Cone (6/1 ML) did not fire last out in a 10k claimer where the void was claimed, which tells me something went amiss last time out. She hits the bottom level in his return, but will be closing if he is ready to run.
I’ll take my chance on the 5 Strawberry Cone here as it looks like there are going to be a few horses up in the front. Yes, these are the bottom level horses on the grounds and we could have a bunch of surprises here. But I think that in the end, we need to go with consistency here, and he was there until the end until that October 30 race at Parx.
I’ll call this race 5-6-1-2 and my play is $20 to win on the 5. Good luck everyone, and I’ll be back tomorrow with another Quills Picks Winners.
