After taking the day off yesterday to recoup from the madness of Breeders’ Cup weekend, we are back to the grind here today. Today we are looking at the sixth race at Finger Lakes, which is a race for fillies and mars going five and a half furlongs on the main track.
Finger Lakes Race 6 – Claiming Race
Favored in today’s race is the 9 Kitty Tin Tin (3/1 morning line). She has run well this year at Finger Lakes, having hit the board in three of her four races this year. Last time out she finished second to a runaway winner. She looks like she will be near the pace with a jockey who is brings out her best performances.
The 1 Necessaryandproper (4/1 ML) draws the rail today. She looks like she will take advantage of the shortest distance around the track by gunning for the lead. The problem is that she has tired in her last few races.
The 7 Regenerator (7/2 ML) has found her competitive level at Finger Lakes. She has faired very well at today’s $5000 claiming level with a hitting the board in her last three races. She will be stalking here in her second race against fellow fillies and mares who never won three races lifetime.
A crazy longshot worth considering is the 8 Bavarian Crème (20/1 ML). Something went wrong last year with her and she was away for almost a year and a half. She’s shown little at Finger Lakes, but those two races were in the slop. Conditions should be dry today at Finger Lakes so that might move her up some.
Joe’s Pick
I am hoping that the favorite does not get bet down. Sometimes when you look at these races, you look at such things as pace, positioning and finish among other things. Sometimes I look at more intangible things like the connections between a trainer and a jockey and even a jockey and a horse.
Kitty Tin Tin does appear to run her best races when Jeremias Flores is aboard. Let’s go with her and pray she doesn’t get bet down to 8/5 or something like that. I’ll call this race 9-7-1-8 and my play is $20 to win on the 9. Best of luck everyone!
