Monday 1/15/24 – Parx Race 6
It’s Monday, so that means that we had to my home track Parx Racing for today’s Quills Picks Winners, and surprise, surprise! We are looking at the sixth race on the card, which is a maiden claiming event for 4-year-olds and up going six and a half furlongs. If you’re in the market for a racehorse, you can buy one of these equine athletes for $25,000.
The Quills Picks Winners AccuGuess weather bureau is reporting that the weather will be fine on Monday, just cold. Winds will calm down in time for the races on Monday. Late Monday night into Tuesday may be an issue, as it looks like a couple of inches of snow may fall, which could cancel the Tuesday card.
The 7 Runandscore (3/1 morning line) had some trouble last time out getting bumped around in his previous start a couple of weeks ago at Parx, and actually had the lead in the stretch before losing my half a length. If he has no issues at the start, he will win.
The 2 Lucky Dancer (4/1 ML) tired in his last race in his first race back from a short layoff, but it was still his first race in the maiden claiming ranks. A race similar to this could be a winning run.
Chasing Stardom (#1, 5/1 ML) was a length or two behind at the start of the race and was close at the end, but he does draw the rail today.
Nicky Da Fox (#9, 15/1 ML) did have a nice race at 23/1 odds two back going 7 furlongs, then showed nothing going back to maiden special weights going two turns last out. The cut in the distance will help her here. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a professional maiden here (0 for 27), but he could get on the board here.
I’m going to go 7-2-9-1 in the sixth race here, and my play is $20 to win on the 7. Good luck everyone, stay warm, and keep your eyes out for tomorrow’s QPW.

- Wakanaka was too far back at the start of the race and couldn’t close in the Grade 3 Las Cienegas as 19/1 longshot Honey Pants had the rail open up like Moses parting the Red Sea to win by a nose Sunday at Santa Anita.
