Friday 3/22/24 – Santa Anita Race 7

Don’t adjust your eyes, as we will be taking a Friday race this week from Santa Anita this week as we will look at the seventh race on their card as optional claimers will race one mile on the turf course. We have nine horses entered into this race that will go to the post at approximately 7:08 pm Eastern time.

Favored in this race is the 6 Enjoy It Strait (3/1 morning line). He is second race off of a layoff here, but this is his first race on the turf in almost two years! He has run numerous races on synthetic at Golden Gate Fields where he was near the front, but nothing that was actual turf.

There will be speed on the front end in this race. The 1 Rodrigoknows (8/1 ML) has been on the lead the last two times out. The 2 Dick Best (6/1 ML) has been more tactical on synthetic at Golden Gate, but he’s been on the lead in his last two races at Santa Anita.

The 10 Red Cross Knight (4/1 ML) has been on the lead the last few times out, but has won from off the pace the last couple of times out.

The page that I am projecting appears to help the 3 Tom and Jazzy (5/1 ML) and the 4 Moogie Son (7/2 ML) the most. Tom and Jazzy closed very well last time out, but I see that Moogie Son is more consistent with his closing kick. But the wild card here is the 9 Ferrariano (6/1 ML). He returns from a two-year break. I’d rather wait a race with him.

I think this is going to come down to the 3 and the 4, but in the end, I’ll put my money on Moogie Son. I’m calling this 4-3-10-9, and my play is $20 to win on the 4. Good luck everyone, and I’ll see you tomorrow with the beginning of the final round of Kentucky Derby Preps!
