We head to Oaklawn for some Friday action. Today’s featured race is an allowance optional claiming race going six furlongs. An overflow field of 14 horses, in a race where only 12 will run, will close the Friday card at Oaklawn today.
Oaklawn Race 10 – Allowance Optional Claiming
Favored in today’s featured race is the 12 Glengarry (3/1 morning line). He finished second last time out in a similar race last month at Oaklawn. This colt is a speed horse that will gun for the lead. He should be able to get over from that outside post, but the question is whether or not he can hold on unlike the last few races he ran.
The 6 Durante (4/1 ML) is second race off of a layoff after winning last month here at Oaklawn. He was close to the pace, but he does not appear to need the lead. He will be near the front and should be taking over in the stretch if the favorite falters.
The 5 Devil’s Tower (9/2 ML) has finished first or second in his last eight races. He has stepped up from tracks like Hawthorne, Thistledown and FanDuel Racing (nee Fairmount Park) and has not missed a step at Oaklawn. He will be stalking the pace here today.
The 10 Chiringo (10/1 ML) did not show much in the Commodore Stakes at Oaklawn last month. He returns today back in optional claiming company here today. He will stalk from the outside, but he could prevent the favorite from getting all the way over from that outside gate.

Glengarry will go for the lead here, but I think he will have trouble getting towards the rail. Chiringo could play a big part in that. I think Devil’s Tower will be able to pick up the pieces here and win this race to close out the Friday card.
