Aqueduct, Race 4 The Grade 3 Long Island Stakes -11/12/23
The Daily Racing Form’s Race of the Day has us returning to Aqueduct Race Track for the 4th race of their card, the Grade 3 Long Island Stakes, going a mile and three-eighths, just like the Saturday race I handicapped for you. There are eight horses entered, seven in the main body of the field, and a “main track only” which will probably be scratched.
There does not appear to be much front running speed in this race, which is usually the thing with New York turf racing. The 1 Whatlovelookslike appears to be taking the lead breaking from the rail. The 2 Vergara has been on the lead in the past but could be right next to the 1.
The 3 Atomic Blonde does appear to be a closer, but how effective will the filly be without having a hot pace up front? #4 R Calli Kim appears to be a stone cold closer. The three outside horses, the 5 Rhombique, the 6 Embrace Me and the 7 Unruly Julie are what I refer to as “race filler”. The 8 Amanda’s Folly is entered for the main track only and will be scratched.
I’m going to say that this is between the 1 and the 2 here. I’ll say it’s a 1-2-4-3 finish in the Long Island.
My play for this race is a $10 exacta box 1 & 2 which would cost me $20. Good luck with all your wagers!
