After a week’s worth of races at Keeneland, we finally return home to Parx for today’s race of the day. Today, we have fillies and mares are going a mile and 70 yards on the main track. These fillies and mares are in for a $10,000 claiming tag.
Parx Race 8 – Claiming 10k
Favored in this field of nine fillies and mares is the 6 Girlfromouterspace (5/2 morning line). She was claimed last month at this game claiming price and finished second as the favorite in the slop. She returns for the same claiming price here and will look to stalk the pace today.
The 3 Patch Perfect (5/1 ML) won two of her last three races and looks to win off of a claim last month at Parx. She won at this distance drawing off against $7500 claimers last time out. She runs for a trainer that wins 30% of the time first time out after a claim. This mare should be able to continue her recent success today.

The 1 Hi Heeled Warrior (4/1 ML) edged clear in her last two races facing lesser company at today’s distance here at Parx. She wants to be a few lengths behind the leader and should be ready to pounce on the final turn today.
The 9 Megan’s Noel (12/1 ML) is another mare racing for the first time after a Michael Pino claim. She has not run well at Turfway Park where she was claimed and ships to Parx here today. She did win three races in a row going two turns at Belterra Park in Cincinnati. Look for her to bounce back as she shifts back to natural dirt.
Joe’s Pick
What this race lacks in talent is made up with my theory of putting the pieces of the puzzle together and picking the winner. I think Patch Perfect has an opportunity to continue the good run that she has in her last three races with the help of a trainer that wins with horses first time off of the claim. It also helps he has two horses that fall into this category.
I am going to bite on both horses here. I’ll call this race 3-9-6-1. My first play is $20 to win on the 3. Then I am going with a $20 ice cold exacta of 3 with 9 that I hope FanDuel TV’s Dave Weaver would be proud of playing. If either half (or both halves) of my exacta scratches, then that bet will be null and void.
Best of luck everyone and I’ll see you in the winner’s circle!
