Minnesota LB Tyler Stolsky has transfered to to FAU Football. Stolsky announced his commitment to the Owls on Monday evening via X, shortly after entering the portal on Dec. 8. He joins the team with two years of eligibility remaining.

He looks for a new opportunity after being a member of the Minnesota Golden Gophers for three seasons, having played in 23 games throughout his time up north. He recorded 32 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and one sack in those games, making six tackles including one tackle for loss in the 2024 campaign.

A 6-foot-3 athlete, Stolsky can make big plays on the defensive side of the field. His ability to make plenty of tackles as a linebacker is worthy to note about the potential he demonstrated at Portage Central High School in Michigan.

As a senior, he made 105 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and seven sacks while also forcing 10 fumbles and making one interception. He played on offense as well, getting five receptions for 75 yards as he helped lead the team to a 9-3 record and a district title.

According to The D Zone, a Michigan-based High School sports website that focuses on football and basketball recruiting, Stolsky describes himself as having a strong work ethic to keep improving as both a player and person on a daily basis. He is also noted to be fast and explosive during games, getting off the line quickly to make positive plays for his team.

“I have been told I’m very coachable and take direction well. I am a hard hitter that doesn’t back down, no matter how big my opponent is,” Stolsky said.

Stolsky was viewed as a consensus three-star prospect by recruiting outlets coming out of high school. On 247Sports, he has an 80 score as the 60th-best player in the state of Michigan and the 242nd-best linebacker in the Class of 2023. He had multiple intriguing offers from the likes of Army, Air Force, Penn, and Eastern Michigan among others before choosing to enroll at Minnesota as a walk-on in January 2022.

Stolsky has the ability to make key stops and break down opposing offenses with his speed and strength throughout his time in the Big Ten, making him a potentially important player for FAU’s depth at linebacker.
