FAU vs. Maine Series Preview

FAU opens up a weekend series against Maine following their second power five win of the season after defeating Miami 6-4. After taking four of their last five, the Owls look to take the series, and go into conference play, possibly six games over .500.

The Owls seem to be clicking as a cohesive unit right now. Everything from the pitching to the hitting has been phenomenal over the course of their last five games. The Owls have scored 58 runs in their last five games, with John Schroeder being the highlight of the lineup. He hit two grand slams in the series against FIU, and now leads the team with 18 RBIs.

The Owls will have their core three pitchers on the mound this weekend. C.J. Williams is set to get the start for the series opener Friday. Williams looks to build off of his 3-0 record on the year so far, and continue to shine as the Owls ace. Trey Beard and Tyler Murphy will get the starts for games two and three as well.

The Owls bullpen looks to stay sharp as well. Danny Trehey has remained dominant and still sports a 0.00 ERA in 13 innings pitched. Braden Ostrander has been solid as well, and has been another arm the Owls can seem to consistently turn to for relief.

The Owls look to improve their record to a possible 12-6 with a series sweep. Maine comes into Boca Raton with a 2-11 record. A team that only had a handful of losses in the America East Conference last season now looks to stay afloat before heading into conference play.

With another matchup against UCF coming up following this series, these three games are crucial for the Owls to maintain their confidence as a team. They’ll head into AAC conference play after facing UCF, and a sweep this weekend would be a great end to their non-conference home schedule.
