Rim Runners roll on in NBA 2K League’s 3v3 Switch Open

Community team Rim Runners continued their stunning run in the NBA 2K League’s 3v3 Switch Open, advancing to the upper-bracket semifinals with a 3-1 win over the fifth-seeded Gen.G Tigers on Thursday.

Rim Runners, seeded 29th, next will oppose eighth-seeded Magic Gaming, who beat 16th-seeded Pistons GT 3-1 on Thursday.

The other upper-bracket semifinal will feature second-seeded Lakers Gaming, a 3-2 victor over seventh-seeded Grizz Gaming, and 22nd-seeded 76ers Gaming, who downed third-seeded Jazz Gaming 3-2.

The double-elimination Switch Open, which runs through Saturday, is the second of three 3v3 tournaments in the NBA 2K League season. Lakers Gaming won the Slam Open, and the Steal Open will follow this month. The 3v3 playoffs are set for April 24-27 in Washington, with cumulative results in the three tournaments determining the playoff field and seeding.

In lower-bracket action on Thursday, Cavs Legion GC stayed alive by posting two 3-2 wins.

First the Cavs captured the last two games to edge NBL Oz Gaming, and then the Cavs held off a comeback attempt from Raptors Uprising GC.

Elsewhere in the lower bracket, Bucks Gaming bested Kings Guard Gaming 3-1, T-Wolves Gaming toppled NetsGC 3-1, and Celtics Crossover Gaming swept Warriors Gaming Squad 3-0.
