Tonight, All Elite Wrestling presents “WrestleDream 2024” from the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington. This is the 2nd “WrestleDream” event in AEW history. The event was created in honor of (the founder of New Japan Pro Wrestling) Antonio Inoki, who passed away on October 1, 2022. AEW has had a partnership with NJPW, since 2021…mostly highlighted by their co-promoted pay-per-view event, “Forbidden Door”. Last year’s event (at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle) was held on the anniversary of his passing.
Last year, saw the AEW debut of “The Rated R Superstar” Adam Copeland (formerly known as Edge in WWE). There’s no telling what surprises could be in store for this year’s show. This event will feature 12 professional wrestling matches. Out of these 12 matches, 7 of them will be for championships (including 2 from Ring of Honor). Starting at 6:30pm eastern (5:30 central, 4:30 mountain, 3:30 pacific), you can see 3 of the matches on the “Zero Hour” pre-show, which will air on Facebook, YouTube, & X. The remaining matches will air on pay-per-view, starting at 8:00pm eastern.
On “Zero Hour”, (NWA World Historic Light Heavyweight Champion) Atlantis Jr. defends the ROH World Television Title against “The Machine” Brian Cage. In women’s action, Anna Jay will compete against Harley Cameron from the Outcasts. The Acclaimed (“Platinum” Max Caster & Anthony Bowens) will compete in tag team action against MxM Collection (Mason Madden & Mansoor).
On the pay-per-view portion of “WrestleDream”, the main event features “The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson defending the AEW World Title against “The Purveyor of Violence” Jon Moxley. If Danielson loses the title, his career is over. “The Scapegoat” Jack Perry defends the AEW TNT Title against “The Wrestler” Katsuyori Shibata. The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) defend the AEW Tag Team Titles against Private Party (Zay & Quen). “The Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay defends the AEW International Title in a 3-way match against “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita & Ricochet. Mark Briscoe defends the ROH World Title against “The Learning Tree” Chris Jericho. “The Glamour” Mariah May defends the AEW Women’s Title against Willow Nightingale. In a 2 out of 3 falls match, Hologram competes against the Beast Mortos. “Switchblade” Jay White complains against “Hangman” Adam Page. Darby Allin competes against Brody King from the House of Black.
Besides all of this action, (former AEW World Champion) Swerve Strickland makes his 1st appearance, since his brutal steel cage match with Page at “All Out”. However, the recently debuting MVP may try to talk “business” with the man who once headed “Mogul Enterprises”. If so, this could spell disaster for Prince Nana. If Swerve rejects MVP’s offer, it could spell disaster for him, too.
Whose “WrestleDream” will come true & whose dream might turn into a nightmare? Find out, as AEW is live in Tacoma, only on pay=per-view.
