Nassourdine Imavov finished Jared Cannonier in the fourth round in their middleweight bout on the main card of UFC Fight Night in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday night.
Imavov, of France, peppered Cannonier with punches along the fence, leading to the TKO. The Dallas native thought the stoppage came too quickly and began the round ahead on points on two of the three judges’ cards.
Cannonier (17-7) entered the match ranked fourth among UFC’s middleweights, three spots ahead of Imavov (14-4).
Cannonier had a slight edge in total strikes, 67.1 percent to 66.7 percent, but Imavov led in significant strikes, 61.2 percent to 58.7 percent.
In the co-main event featuring a pair of light heavyweights, Dominick Reyes needed only two minutes to stop Dustin Jacoby.
Reyes (13-4), a Southern California native, landed 20 of 33 significant strikes to only 6 of 16 for Jacoby. The Colorado native fell to 19-9-1.
