Curtis Blaydes gets Tom Aspinall rematch at UFC 304

Nearly two years to the day of their first matchup, Curtis Blaydes and Tom Aspinall are set for a rematch at UFC 304 on July 27 in Manchester, England.

Blaydes and Aspinall first squared off July 23, 2022, in London, with Blaydes winning by TKO when Aspinall blew out his knee just 15 seconds into the match.

Back in March, after a second-round TKO of Jailton Almeida at UFC 299, Blaydes (18-4 MMA, 13-4 UFC) said he wanted to take on Aspinall (14-3, 7-1), the interim heavyweight champion.

On Thursday, UFC CEO Dana White made it official as the co-main event along with Leon Edwards vs. Belal Muhammad for Edwards’ welterweight title.

A year after the injury, Aspinall defeated Marcin Tybura by TKO in 73 seconds, then defeated Sergei Pavlovich via knockout (punches) in just 69 seconds last November for the interim heavyweight title.

The winner of the Blaydes-Apsinall rematch is expected to take on the winner of champion Jon Jones vs. former champion Stipe Miocic. However, there is speculation that the winner of the latter fight may retire.
