Ryan Garcia has full confidence in himself when it comes to matching against Isaac Cruz. The world got to see Cruz dominate Rolando Romero with an eighth-round knockout in what was a main event showing. Garcia apparently wasn’t very impressed.
When Garcia began to discuss the newly crowned WBA Junior Welterweight champion, he said that he’d knock him out within five rounds. He said that he’s faced multiple fighters with the same exact style as Cruz, and that he would know how to handle it in the ring. He later said, “I feel like I can knock out Pitbull without five rounds. The jab because he’s coming forward anyway. He’s going to have to eat something.” Garcia claimed that Romero made a mistake by backing up against Cruz, which is something he wouldn’t have done in his situation.
Unfortunately for Romero, he found himself in the crosshairs by accident. Garcia started talking about his inability to counter Cruz, eventually saying, “He doesn’t know how to stop momentum. He doesn’t know how to do anything. He’s a beginner still. It’s not even about technical. He doesn’t know what to do in certain situations. Rolly is still new to the game. He doesn’t know how to handle a pressure fighter.” Garcia might be quickly throwing out shots to other talented boxers, but he needs to start locking in himself first.
Ryan Garcia Has Bigger Things On The Horizon
Garcia is still etched in to fight Devin Haney on April 20th. He’s never been crowned with a world title and wants an opportunity to take the WBC Junior Welterweight title soon. In the last few months though, he’s openly admitted to smoking weed and drinking alcohol, and fans began to get worried for his mental health after some bizarre posts came up on social media. Regardless, Garcia has a huge fight in front of him, and it’s likely not the best time to start claiming that you’d knock out a now champion in under five rounds. Especially when you aren’t even facing that boxer.
