Mike Tyson is back, and the GOAT couldn’t have picked a better opponent to molly wop.
“Iron Mike” aka Mike Tyson is set to enter the ring once again, this time facing off against the controversial figure and YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. The event is scheduled for July 20 at the AT&T Stadium, famously known as the home to the Dallas Cowboys, and will be broadcast live on Netflix, as announced by the streaming platform on Thursday morning.
The bout between the boxing GOAT and the former YouTuber is labeled as an exhibition, though further details on the format remain unspecified.
Tyson, a revered former heavyweight champion & absolute staple of boxing iconography, will be 58 years old at the time of the match. His last official bout was on June 11, 2005, against Kevin McBride, marking a long hiatus from competitive boxing.

The bad boy “Big Bro” aka Tyson did participate in an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. on November 28, 2020, in Los Angeles. Ironically, that event also featured his bad boy “Lil Bro” Jake Paul, who secured a knockout victory against former NBA player Nate Robinson in the second round.
For Tyson, the Netflix bout at AT&T Stadium in Dallas will come almost four years later. That’s four more years of getting slower, weaker, & less violent. Although, it would be foolish to ever count out Iron Mike.
Tyson recently played hype man for Paul ahead of their July 20th bout on Netflix:
“He’s grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a ‘kid’ can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT. It’s a full-circle moment that will be beyond thrilling to watch, as I started him on his boxing journey on the undercard of my fight with Roy Jones, and now I plan to finish him.”
“Lil Bro” Jake Paul, at 27, has brought significant attention to the sport by competing against ex-MMA fighters like Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley (in two matches), and Ben Askren. However, in his initial match against a professional boxer, Tommy Fury, the younger brother of Tyson Fury, the former YouTube star faced his first defeat.
Paul expressed his ambitions to accomplish a boxing milestone:
“My sights are set on becoming a world champion, and now I have a chance to prove myself against the greatest heavyweight champion ever, the baddest man on the planet and the most dangerous boxer of all time. This will be the fight of a lifetime.”
It’s clear that neither of these boxers have much to lose, but if we had to pick, clearly Tyson has more to lose. Early in his career, Tyson became legendary for his vicious, borderline cannibal, dismantling of boxing opponents. In the ladder stages, trouble outside of the ring plagued him as much as the troubles inside.
“Lil Bro”, on the other hand, is a boxing nobody who has everything to gain and nothing to lose. The media exposure alone will tick his brand upwards and AT&T Stadium is no Fruit Salad Arena. Although, in reality, Paul has only fought one actual boxer, and that loss came at the hands of Tyson Fury’s little brother. Irony; ain’t it something. Paul is more known for his social media-ready antics, and his appeal to Gen Zers trying to navigate adulthood now. Keep in mind, he was incredibly famous with tweens & teens a decade ago on YouTube, so it only makes sense that his biggest fight came on a streaming platform.
Still, the kid sells tickets; nobody can say anything against that. This absolutely should be a good ole fashioned prize fight that fans, old and new, will be in high anticipation to watch.
