Amanda Serrano Squaring Off With Nina Meinke On March 2nd

By Nick Martinez

Amanda Serrano and Nina Meinke are expecting to bring one of the biggest female boxing events to Puerto Rico at the beginning of March. The two female boxers are set to go head-to-head on March 2nd in a featherweight championship bout.

Amanda Serrrano Hoping To Hold Onto The Title

Serrano is a very experienced boxer that’s competed in Puerto Rico a couple of times already throughout her incredible career. If you don’t believe me, maybe you’ll believe her 46-2-1 overall record, with 30 of those victories coming in the form of a knockout. I guess there’s a reason why she’s nicknamed “The Real Deal”. When asked about being able to fight in Puerto Rico again, she had glowing remarks. Serrano said, “Pinch me. It’s so surreal looking around and to be back at home as the main event. I am super honored. Thank you so much to MVP for putting on an amazing show…I’m super excited to be here, to have an amazing opponent, to come out and showcase women’s boxing once again.”

Serrano

Serrano was in headlines towards the end of 2023 when she officially relinquished her title. The decision came as a surprise considering that she had defeated Danila Ramos to retain her title as current champion. Instead, Serrano was frustrated with the WBC for refusing to sanction 12-round fights, rather than the usual 10-rounds that women’s bouts are. The WBC didn’t want to sanction 12-rounds because of “health and safety” concerns.

Nina Meinke Is Prepared To Make A Splash

Nina Meinke on the other hand is an established boxer of her own. She’s worked to an 18-3 professional record with four knockouts under her belt. Meinke is hoping to become just the second woman in history to win a 12-round unified championship. She’s been a hot name lately after winning the WBA Gold World featherweight title on top of the IBF Inter-Continental featherweight title. When you talk to her about this opportunity against Serrano, she couldn’t be more excited. Meinke said, “My team and I have been itching for this fight. I’m pumped, well-prepped, and set to be Germany’s first female boxer to go the 12-round distance. I’m stoked to be part of the movement for women’s boxing and equal rights.”

Speaking of Meinke, she decided to give Serrano a gift during the two’s press conference together leading up to this big event. Meinke chose to extend a gift, which was of the Berlin Bear, a “symbol of our city”. It doesn’t feel like there’s any genuine bad blood between these two talented boxers, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be leaving it all out in the ring when they compete on March 2nd

It’s also worth mentioning that this bout will be the co-main event due to Jake Paul fighting alongside Serrano and Meinke. Paul reportedly helped get their fight as the main event, with some sources stating that he is Meinke’s promoter. As for his opponent, it’s currently still undisclosed. However, if you’re not interested in anything to do with Paul, then the battle between Serrano and Meinke will be the one to watch.
