Even with the new NFL season on the horizon, there are still plenty of other sports leagues that are garnering for attention. There are even some that are trying their hardest to turn a loss to a win. And then there’s the migraine headache known as Sage Steele.
The San Francisco 49ers were a powerhouse team last season. After losing Jimmy Garoppolo for the year earlier in the season, and Trey Lance in the middle of it, they relied on the shockingly, epic performance of Brock Purdy to lead them from obscurity and into the playoffs.
Thursday marked the first double-header of the NFL season (albeit, preseason). For those of us drowning in the waters of the “Summer Sports Season,” lulled into fighting for air, it was a needed shock to our system to help bring us back to the surface.

The NFL pre-season is under way. As you know, some games will be on NFL Network, while other will be on local television. However, some people may be out of market for their favorite team…or at least looking at players that they hope other teams cut, so those players join their team.
The AFC West has been the hot spot for a few years. Ever since the Chiefs executed The Art of the Comeback not once, not twice but three times enroute to a Super Bowl Championship back in 2020, they have been the team to beat. Many expected them to falter after the departure of Tyreek Hill, but once again, they proved that they are that damn good.
By weekend’s end, all 32 NFL teams will have played their first preseason game. A few things are sure to be in-flux over the next few weeks which will affect the Power Rankings for the NFL, but that doesn’t mean we can’t Monday Morning QB it, right now.
