The San Jose State women’s volleyball team’s quest for perfection ended with its first loss of the season on Thursday night at Colorado State.
The second full week of AAC play has arrived. For the Owls it was inviting the Memphis Tigers (7-8) (1-2) to town. Memphis was a gracious guest as they fell to the Owls in sweeping fashion, 3-0.
Charlotte came looking for gold in Boca Raton, but the Owls gave the 49ers only coal as FAU gained their fourth sweep of the season in dominant fashion.
Florida Atlantic hosted East Carolina (8-3) (1-0) for their first conference match of the season Friday night. The Owls had a dominant first set, but the Pirates had a tight grip on the match as ECU won 3-1 in the AAC conference opener.
FAU made sure to have a get-right weekend with a dominant 3-0 stint by the Owls to win the Owls Paradise Classic. The wins came over Illinois State (5-8), Mercer (10-2), and Stetson (3-8) to improve Florida Atlantic’s record to 8-4 before American Athletic Conference play.
After taking a 2-0 match advantage FAU could not hold on as UCF scraped by the Owls. The close match was a battle of attrition as Central Florida gained their fifth straight victory of the season to reverse sweep the Owls 3-2.
The Seminoles (5-1) and Owls (5-2) both have had great starts to the season. Florida Atlantic wanted to have the opportunity to build their résumé as they faced off against #21 Florida State, but the ‘Noles were too strong as FAU fell 3-0.
The Owls close out their first road-trip on the season with a productive weekend in Lubbock, Texas. The Owls gained a 3-1 victory over Northern Arizona to complete a 2-1 road-trip. Florida Atlantic now has their fifth win of the season.
FAU volleyball went 1-1 on Friday in Day One of the Red Raider Classic with a come from behind victory over Green Bay and a hard fought loss against host team Texas Tech.
