We stay at Oaklawn Park for their Good Friday card, and we have a very interesting race here as we have 13 horses entered for the Temperence Hill Stakes, which is a race for older horses going a mile in a half. Thirteen horses are entered, but only 12 will run in this race, as it was already announced on Twitte
Holy Thursday, Batman! We are heading to Oaklawn Park for the first of three days here in Arkansas in the build up to the Arkansas Derby on Saturday evening. We will take a look at the finale on the Thursday card which is a race for three-year-olds going one mile on the main track.
We head to our usual Wednesday hangout as we had to Tampa Bay Downs for today’s Quills Picks Winners as we will look at the fifth race which is an optional claiming race going one mile on the turf. Post time is an earlier one today, with a first post of 2:50 pm Eastern time.
We stay at Will Rogers for the Tuesday edition of Quills Picks Winners and today we have seven Oklahoma-bred horses sprinting six furlongs in the TRAO Classic Sprint Stakes. It should be sunny tomorrow, which hopefully means a dry track for this race which will go to the post at 4:57 pm Eastern time.
For the second Monday in a row, we head to the Sooner State of Oklahoma, where we will look at the eighth race of their card, which is the Miranda Diane Stakes for fillies and mares three years old and up. The females will go six furlongs on the main track with a post time of approximately 5:24 pm Eastern time.
We close out another week of Quills Picks Winners with a trip to South Florida as we will take a look at the eighth race at Gulfstream Park, which is the Melody of Colors Stakes, which is a five-furlong turf sprint on the turf. Post time for this race is for approximately 4:37 pm Eastern time.
We begin the final major round of races for the Road to the Kentucky Derby, and we will head to the Fair Grounds in New Orleans for the Grade 2 Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby. We have 12 horses fighting for their share 200 points (including 100 points to the winner) and potentially a spot in one of the 20 Kentucky Derby gates
Saturday is the main event for the Turfway Park season, and their big race is the Jeff Ruby Steaks, which will award 200 points (100 to winner, 50 to runner up, 25 for third, 15 for fourth, 10 for fifth), and just like the Louisiana Derby, will give a few runners a ticket to Louisville for the Kentucky Derby.
Don’t adjust your eyes, as we will be taking a Friday race this week from Santa Anita this week as we will look at the seventh race on their card as optional claimers will race one mile on the turf course. We have nine horses entered into this race that will go to the post at approximately 7:08 pm Eastern time.
