We head to Gulfstream Park for today’s Quills Picks Winners for today’s eighth race as seven older fillies and mares will go a one-turn mile on the dirt. Post time for this featured race is approximately 3:39 pm Eastern Time.
It was the first time I played a random card at Turfway Park in years. I would occasionally watch the races, but most nights, I’d pass. But on this day, I was diving headfirst into the short end of the pool.
The holiday is over and it’s time to get back into the regular routine that we seem to have here at Quills Picks Winners. We had to our home office in Bensalem, PA for today’s sixth race, which is a race for older fillies and mares going seven furlongs on the main track. The approximate post time for today’s race is 2:20 pm eastern time.
Today, we are looking at race seven, which is a optional claimer going seven furlongs on the main track. We have nine older fillies and mares, but if you remember from last month, Aqueduct (and the New York Racing Association for that matter) like to throw in these races with coupled entries, so technically we have eight entries here going today.
We stay on the road to the Kentucky Derby, but this time, we head to New Mexico, specifically our first trip to Sunland Park which is right over the state line from El Paso, Texas for the Grade 3 Sunland Derby
I am going to divert from Laurel Park which was the Daily Racing Form’s Race of the Day and give you two races from the Fair Grounds in New Orleans, where they have 14-race card as they will have their first 50 point races on the Road to the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby.
We are staying at Gulfstream Park for the Friday edition of Quills Picks Winners as we have three year old maiden fillies going a mile on the turf course here. A field of 11 females will head to the gate for the penultimate race of the day with an approximate post time of 3;37 pm Eastern time.
After a night in Oldsmar, Florida on Valentine’s Day, we head to what has become our Thursday racetrack on the QPW as we had to Gulfstream Park for race 5, which is a seven and a half furlong race on the turf. The way that the course is set up, it will be a two-turn race here, as an overflow field of 13 will head to the gate at approximately 2:09 pm Eastern.
But let’s get back to the racing here, and you know since it is a Wednesday, we are going to stay away from the cold and snowy Northeast and head to Tampa Bay Downs for today’s seventh race. We have older maidens (four years old and up) going a mile and a sixteenth on the turf course
