I admit that sometimes when I go to the racetrack, like I did on Saturday to Harrah’s Philadelphia, I try to make mental notes of some tracks. Unfortunately, I did not get to watch any of the Belmont at the Big A races yesterday, but it does look like they escaped the rains that came down here in Philadelphia, and most notably, Baltimore. So I am expecting firm conditions on the turf course today.
Rain was falling at Pimlico Race Course on Saturday hours before Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan goes for back-to-back Triple Crown victories when he takes on seven other horses in the Preakness Stakes.
We reach the second leg of this year’s Triple Crown as we stay in Baltimore for the Preakness. BALTIMORE — There is little doubt that Bob Baffert is one of the most accomplished horse trainers in North American history. He is only one of two trainers in the annals of the sport to have conditioned two Triple Crown
We have reached Preakness weekend, and today’s race is one of the Friday graded stakes races on their Friday 14-race program. Today we will take a look at the three-year-old fillies in the Black Eyed Susan as eight fillies will go a mile and an eighth on the main track. The post time for today’s race is set for approximately 5:44 pm Eastern time.
Brian Hernandez Jr. spent the leadup to the Kentucky Derby watching replays of winning rides by fellow jockeys to see what it would take to get the job done with Mystik Dan, particularly those of Hall of Famer Calvin Borel.
