On Friday afternoon, John Jakus inserted himself into the hearts and minds of FAU nation, as he was officially introduced as the 10th basketball coach in school history with an opening press conference that displayed passion and emotion.
FAU entered game two of their conference series at Memphis looking to get their bats back on track and tie the series. The Owls bats would come alive early, and Memphis would never be able to catch up. Led by the long ball, the Owls took game two over the Tigers 13-5, to even up the series.
FAU opened up their series at Memphis after dropping the final game of their AAC opening series against Charlotte. The Owls looked to improve their 2-1 AAC record, and Memphis looked to improve their 1-2 AAC record. The Owls would threaten with the bats throughout the game, but would ultimately get beat by the Tigers 2-1.
FAU travels up to Memphis following their first AAC series win against Charlotte last weekend. The Owls come into this series with a 14-8 record, while Memphis comes in with a 12-15 record. It’ll be the first time both of these teams meet, and the Owls look to get back on track after suffering a blowout loss in the final game against Charlotte on Sunday.
It was announced Tuesday night that John Jakus agreed to a 5-year deal that would make him the 10th Head Men’s Basketball Coach in FAU history First being reported by Jeff Goodman on X, and later followed up with a statement from FAU Athletic Director Brian White.
FAU welcomed the Charlotte 49ers into Boca Raton for their first series in AAC conference play. The Owls entered the series with their five game winning streak getting snapped by UCF, and looked to get back in the win column and improve their 12-7 record.
